Possibly circa 1865. The Life of Robin Hood 192 pages. Robin Hood's Garland 256 pages. Plus 16 pages of publisher's advertisements. Measures approximately 5" x 3 1/4". Brown hardcover, blindstamped decoration on both boards. Title on spine (Life & Ballads of Robin Hood) in gilt with gilt and black decorations. Binding is very worn at edges and corners and is beginning to split (1 1/2" split at top of spine on front, 1/2" at top on rear board, 1/4" at bottom of front). Both hinges cracked. Inscription to previous owner on front free endpaper. Black-and-white frontispiece of Robin, Allan, and the Friar. Illustrated title page 'Life and Ballads of Robin Hood' plus title page 'The Life and Exploits of Robin Hood: and Robin Hood's Garland'. Pages are age toned. A very few have a smudge or a spot, but the vast majority are clean and unmarked. The final page of advertisements is partially detached.
